Why we're building Lucie

Managing money takes too much effort.

Banking and standard money management apps do a lot of great things, but they tend to all share the same fundamental design: here's your data, now you figure out what to do with it.

Spending breakdowns. Budget trackers. Transaction lists. Charts. You might have all that information, but the responsibility for interpreting, deciding and acting rests with you.

Most people don't have the time or energy for that. Not because they don't care about their money; because life is busy and financial decisions can be hard. So the app sits there, full of useful data that nobody looks at often enough.

But money matters; getting it wrong has real consequences for life, family, plans. Most people carry that weight themselves, compounded by a feeling that they should probably be doing more but aren't.

We want to change that. And craft a better way. Not by "building a better dashboard" but by creating an answer to a different question: "why are we still asking people to do the work?"

Two things have changed that make this possible.

The first is that secure access to financial data is now a reality. In Australia the Consumer Data Right gives consumers regulated access to their own data and similar frameworks exist or are emerging in other countries. And while direct integration with banks is never simple, it opens the door to even richer possibilities.

The second is the emergence of AI that can actually do something useful with that data. Not generate a chart; understand a pattern, spot a risk, surface an opportunity and explain it in plain language.

That's what we're building with Lucie Money: a personal money agent that connects securely to your bank accounts and monitors your finances continuously. Instead of waiting for you to check in, Lucie reaches out when something matters: an unusual transaction, an upcoming bill that might cause a shortfall, a pattern worth knowing about.

When you do have questions, you can talk to Lucie in natural language. Want to set a budget? Ask Lucie. Wondering if you're on track for a savings goal? Ask Lucie. Trying to compare rates or find a better deal? Ask Lucie.

The goal is to give people the benefits of careful financial attention without requiring them to do the attending. The confidence to know their money is in hand, so they can focus on everything else that's real and meaningful in life.
